The MUTE Series

THE MUTE SERIES is back for 2025! Riposte Pictures produced four new films in Andy Lambert’s unique award-winning series which now comprises twenty-two short films, each approximately 2 minutes long. The series adheres to three strict rules:

RULE 1 – No dialogue
RULE 2 – No camera moves
RULE 3 – Only one shot

This back-to-basics experiment in narrative film minimalism has drawn comparisons to the works of Jacques Tati and Roy Andersson, while others have seen it as a contemporary interpretation of silent cinema, but The MUTE Series has very much developed its own unique aesthetic voice, characterized by its deadpan, absurdist humor that casts a mordant eye over contemporary life, exploring themes of greed, chance, irrational desires, conformity, and indifference.

The four new films were picked up by Screenvision Media for their pre-show package and screened as supporting shorts across 36 screens in 7 independent cinemas throughout the USA in September and October 2024. The films played in art house movies theaters in California, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Illinois.
